r/Teachers • 18 hr. ago Posted by Imaginary-Golf6565 I Can't Handle the Antisemitism This Year Teaching the holocaust this year has been an absolute nightmare. 1 don't know what happened since covid but like half of my 8th grade boys think it's funny to say things I never would have expected to hear from someone their age. Why do they think it's ok? We were watching a scene from Schindler's List when an African American student loudly blurted out "bruh Hitler was awesome" and the entire class thought that was hysterical. Another student called the movie "basically Jewish propaganda" because the director Steven Spielberg is Jewish and another student agreed. I had to stop the film to give a lesson about basic human decency which a few students resisted. I've heard everything from "Hitler looked cool' to "Jews actually do control everything" and multiple students actually started to debate if the holocaust even happened. I was dumfounded. Yesterday some students were laughing at Hitler quotes and saying they were "based" or true. I'm terrified for our future. 537 218
