In a response to the measures announced by Andrew Griffith (see 8.08am), the Green MP Ellie Chowns said: 44 It is completely outrageous that, as evidence of climate breakdown and environmental collapse becomes ever-more impossible to ignore, the Conservatives would prefer to tear up environmental standards, weaken climate protection, and abolish organisations charged with protecting nature, rather than tackle the genuine issues affecting building in Britain. There can be no economic growth on a dead planet. There is no success story in homes that overheat in summer, flood in winter, or leave families paying sky- high energy bills because we failed to build them properly in the first place.
