Short version: Close up of a lighthouse light. Fuller description: Close up, looking straight at the business end of a lighthouse light. Or lamp. Or bulb. I don’t know and, forgive me, am not researching the technical terms for this description because internet search is so ruined that it’s hard to quickly find clearly reliable information. The light lamp bulb thing is about (my guess) a metre high and a metre wide, conical, with curving horizontal glass slats like Venetian blinds when opened. They are glinting glassy green in strong sunlight. Some rainbow spectrum light reflections are near the top, where it’s darker. The base is red and industrially-engineered looking. Behind it, the glass partitions lighthouse top. Once again, I don’t know the technical term. The casing, the housing, the lamp shade. It’s like triangular windows, a kind of latticed effect. Outside, pale blue sky. If you squint closely, you can see that the bottom is not sky, but sea – blue, glinting in sunshine, almost invisible in the same colour as the sky. This was taken in Det Grå Fyr, the Grey Lighthouse, at Grenen, Skagen, Denmark. Built in 1858, 46 metres high. Now an ornithological centre.
