getting tipped

alex gleason's client derives a plain bitcoin address from your npub enabling you to be tipped with traditional bitcoin transactions. this is unpopular and expensive. idk how to get the money out
most people use lightning wallets but they are stupid and all use trusted third parties. lightning is very popular on nostr but everything about it is extremely stupid
blitz, cake, and walletofsatoshi all give you a short lnurl name such as crunklord420@cake.cash you can enter on your profile to be tipped more easily. this is the most common way
some more .well-known trickery can proxy the lnurl provisioned to you behind a name you specify so you can get paid on a vanity lnurl on your own domain
some nostr clients added payment directions where you can specify ethereum, monero, venmo etc but it isn't popular

tipping others

many people use nostr wallet connect to remotely control their lightning wallet from within their nostr client. blitz wallet supports it and a couple others
or just click the zap button and manually send the payment to the address in the modal dialog using any wallet
tips usually go to people who post the most masturbatory horseshit about why bitcoin is perfect and will suck your dick. the most deserving people usually don't get anything or they conscientiously opt out of lightning because it's a bad retarded protocol. the whole culture around tipping is stupid

mentions and quotes

you can mention anyone by pasting their npub into the body of your note, or do the @ sign and the client will try to look them up
notes have an nevent identifier. you can paste these anywhere in your note and it lets you quote post that note. you can paste multiple nevent strings into your note and it will quotepost all of them

relays list

these are the ones im using it might be overkill idk. the last one costs money to write but is free to read. some other relays cost money but this is uncommon
