Short version: A seagull above an Avian Bird Flue warning sign. Fuller description: St Ive's Cornwall, an overcast afternoon. Just in front of us, to the right, a low moss-covered dark harbour hut. Just above us, a plump white and grey seagull is standing on the roof, placidly gazing out over the beach, green sea, anchored boats, pier and harbour to the left. Just below it, hanging on the side of the hut wall, a warning sign: Avian (Bird) Flu Is Circulating In This Area. It is illustrated with an adult, child and dog by the beach; instructions about not letting it spread; and an illustration of a seagull. It looks as if the real seagull has perched deliberately by this sign to peacefully show us how little it cares,
