A six year old jpeg of candy hearts with captions like "stank love" and "hole" proclaims that a research scientist trained a model to caption those candy hearts, and this was the result. I don't know if the hearts were actually captioned by AI, but six years ago, it was believable that state of the art AI could have done no better than this... and still a little impressive that it could do it even this well.

This was the state of text generative models only six years ago. Hard to believe, as all pervasive as models like chatgpt are these days.
I don't think I've ever in my life wished a technological genie back into a bottle... until now. It can't be done, of course. But we are not--as a culture, and frankly as a species--ready for this technology in SO many different ways.
Bring back the hilariously inept candy hearts; take back the deceptively eloquent artificial idiots. Please...?
