@harrym And there's an added kicker in all of this. The University of Melbourne did some research on building ventilation systems, and found a particular setup can reduce the indoor spread of the virus by 83 per cent:
"Displacement ventilation air conditioning – which supplies air from floor level - was the most effective and energy efficient system tested, reducing COVID-19 transmission by 83 per cent, while also reducing energy consumption by 20 per cent."
Now surely, if there's an *airborne* virus pandemic, and there's credible research showing modern ventilation systems can prevent 83% of the spread, a responsible government would mandate those systems are installed in all offices, shopping centres, and major public buildings before they can reopen.
It didn't happen.
Why? Take one guess.
Yep, it's capitalism. Because Westfield's profits, and the big commercial property developers profits, were more important than people's lives.
