SCANTILY - CLAD girls cavorted with drunken musicians at a wild party thrown by blues singer John Mayall on the 32nd floor of plush Sydney motel. Teenage fans, mainly girls, invaded the Hyatt Kings Gate Motel at Kings Cross after Mayall invited them to the party marathon during concert at the Hordern Pavilion. More than 80 girls got past security guards and crowded into two of Mayall's suites which had been sealed off from other guests. Guests at the party shared the more-than-will-ing groupies and departed to other rooms as the girls high on alcohol and marihuana, shed their inhibitions. Many girls stripped naked. Others allowed men to undress them. Stars of the party included Mayall, 40, his mother Beryl, 69, and leading models and pop musicians. Mayall spent most of the night with a tall braless model who gave her name as Dannie St. Clair. Mayall was later accompanied to Melbourne by the slender brunette.

    Unforgettable highlights of my career!

"Birds, booze and blues -- 32 floors high" headline in the Melbourne Truth, October 19, 1974.
Mayall, asked how he enjoyed the party, told Truth, "It was great, man, I can't remember much, but neither can anyone else." NOT TRUE! I remember.
