We all know about the enshittification that brought advertisement to paid streaming services.
It is only a matter of time before they start offering "television channel" versions in which you don't pick to watch what you want when you want, but are stuck to a schedule set by the service.
It is the obsession of every major player to dial back your freedom to that of elderly boomers still subscribing to cable channels.

It's that 3rd one, IMHO, though it may depend on the service.
It would be awkward if every instance were running different software. But having only one dominate is bad.
