ALMA continuum images of the sample of 31 disks with inner dust cavities (“transition disks”) for which we find a significant proper motion anomaly indicative of the presence of companions. Assuming one companion dominates the proper motion anomaly, the solid cyan line indicates the 50th percentile of companion location (with cyan shaded areas being 10th and 90th percentiles).

    In most cases, we don't have the technology to directly see newborn planets orbiting baby stars. But the Gaia space telescope is so sensitive that it can measure the stars being yanked back & forth by the gravity of the hidden objects around them.
