   Russia and Belarus were kicked out of rugby, football, and most major competitions almost overnight after the invasion of Ukraine. The logic was: “Sport must take a stand against aggression.”

   Yet Israel — a Middle Eastern colonial state running a decades-long occupation and now accused of mass civilian atrocities — faces no comparable consequences.
