    It was nothing to do with my setup at all it turns out and it was because of me setting the quantity it 1 in the items LOL. Found an obscure comment mentioning the exact error I was having. It's now working perfectly so at least I solved that.

    The little yellow sphere is just a mesh I'm using to have a location above the player so it drops the item at the right spot.
