1. Guitar is drying out the finish is sort of flat again
2. I don’t think I’m fixing the top.
3. The only piece of lumber in the store big enough for the block was a chunk of Western Maple, so that’s what I’m using and I spent today taking a slice off of it to patch the guitar’s side panel around the neck.

I wasn’t at all sure that was going to work. I glued the new chunk to a board for support first, so it wouldn’t chip away from the saw and took my slice beside the board, and had to spend some time getting the board off again, but it worked. Not uniform, but thick enough. 😀
