Tweet by Jake Scott, MD @jakescottMD Nutrition matters. But the "doctors don't learn it" trope isn't about food — it's the same playbook as your vaccine rhetoric: oversimplify, mislead, and undermine trust in medicine. Sure, doctors could use more nutrition knowledge. But that's irrelevant when the real issues are coverage, access, food deserts, and low wages. You can't fix America's health crisis by teaching doctors that vegetables are good — nutrition basics aren't rocket science. More importantly, it's a terrible use of physician time. We have dietitians for nutrition counseling. Doctors should focus on diagnosis and treatment, not competing with actual nutrition experts. The obsession with trivial ingredient swaps (cane sugar vs corn syrup, beef tallow vs oil) while ignoring structural barriers isn't just misguided — it's performative distraction from policies that would actually improve health outcomes. Embedded Post by Secretary Kennedy @SecKennedy I’m leading a team at @HHSGov, along with @EDSecMcMahon, targeting the woeful lack of nutrition education in medicine. We can reverse the chronic disease epidemic simply by changing our diets and lifestyles, but to do that, we need nutrition to be a basic part of every doctor’s training.
