Based on the answers to this StackOverflow question and this blog post, here are the 16 (!!!) AI-related settings in new versions of Firefox that you'll want to disable/set to false, and that might be turned back on with each update:

    - browser.aiwindow.enabled
    - browser.ml.chat.enabled
    - browser.ml.chat.menu
    - browser.ml.chat.page.footerBadge
    - browser.ml.chat.page.menuBadge
    - browser.ml.chat.page
    - browser.ml.chat.shortcuts
    - browser.ml.chat.sidebar
    - browser.ml.enable
    - browser.ml.linkPreview.enabled
    - browser.ml.pageAssist.enabled
    - browser.ml.smartAssist.enabled
    - browser.tabs.groups.smart.enabled
    - browser.tabs.groups.smart.userEnabled
    - extensions.ml.enabled
    - sidebar.notification.badge.aichat

Enter "about:config" in the browser bar and then search for each of these and disable them, turn them off, or set them to false as appropriate.

Depending on which version of Firefox you have you may not have all these configuration options.

    Check your smartphone browsers too!

To switch off #AI bullshit on #Mozilla #FirefoxMobile, you'll need to go to advanced settings, too - only there's no about:config anymore. But if you open this URL

    chrome://geckoview/content/config.xhtml

via the address bar, you'll still get there, just like in ordinary #Firefox.

    There, search for

    browser.ml.enable
    extensions.ml.enabled

and set both to false. That should be sufficient to have a little less #AI #enshittification in your digital life... at least for now.

In a world increasingly afflicted by #enshittification, #Mozilla #Firefox (thanks to #uBlock & #NoScript) remains one of the usable browsers, last real contender to #google chrome.

To switch of #AI bullshit, go to about:config and set these to false:

    browser.ml.enable
    browser.ml.chat.enabled
    extensions.ml.enabled
    browser.ml.chat.page

The last one should also disable the shitty right-click "Ask an AI chatbot" menu item that has popped up recently.

For #FirefoxMobile, see next post in thread.

To disable the AI nonsense in the latest Firefox update, open a new tab and go enter about:config into the address bar. Enter the following and make them false:

    browser.ml.linkPreview.enabled
    browser.ml.chat.enabled
    browser.ml.enable
    browser.tabs.groups.smart.enabled
    browser.tabs.groups.smart.userEnabled
    extensions.ml.enabled
    sidebar.revamp

The Mozilla Firefox configuration settings are utterly polluted with AI crap, with no simple way to turn them all off easily. However, there are three that seem to kill most of the AI activity at the UI level, but what's going on in the background I of course can't see. By the way, Firefox is also hiding http: and https:, a terrible decision that Google tried and reversed years ago. You can disable this in Firefox about:config as well. To cripple Firefox AI:

    Go to URL about:config

    Set these to "false":

    browser.ml.chat.enabled
    extensions.ml.enabled

These stop Firefox from attempting to create link preview "key points" AI garbage from reading your page. Also:

    Setting to false:

    browser.ml.linkPreview.enabled

Will turn off the annoying link preview behavior entirely.

I will note that this behavior by Mozilla is actually far more invasive than what Chrome currently does.

Hey Mozilla: Take your damned AI and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

    L
