We were far from this nest when we saw it. The parents would come and go from it and occasionally a baby bird's head would surface. Not wonderful photos, but we were rapt. In this photo, one of the birds had flown away and was returning. The other, on a branch near the nest but most of the time facing away from the nest, acknowledged its mate's return but remained erect and on guard for trespassers.
