   #NSF staff were told Thurs that the agency’s🚨37 divisions—across all 8 directorate: being abolished & the# of programs within those divisions will be drastically reduced.

   NSF receives >40,000 proposals/yr, ~1/4 of which are funded. Div directors wield great authority over the outcome.

   Last week, staff were briefed on a new process for vetting grant proposals that're found to be out of step with a presidential directive on DEI.
