Spadix and spathe of Arum maculatum, often known as Lords and Ladies, sometimes as Cuckoo Pint. In front of a bank of earth and vegetation, a vertical green leafy structure, the spathe, is unfurling from around the spadix, a spear shaped dark brown solid structure which is actually part of the flowering structure.
