It's little face is between the women so it looks like it's just popped up to be in the shot like a photobomb. They are clearly quite distressed by this, in which we find humour because we are horrible people.

Nieces birthday shindig today. Of course I'll be in the family photo. I love having photos taken of me and don't think I ruin photos by appearing like some malevolent sea creature.
