   It'll be gratis, right until you have started relying upon their service, and that's when they'll start charging the users.

   Another.com were using this business model in 1998.

   Free ad-supported email/webmail, but after you had been using the service for 30-36 months, they would start charging you.

   During one London Meet-up, i was talking with one of the tech's from Another.com, who told me that this was entirely deliberate.
