Last week, myself and my daughters were walking back from the bus stop along a busy rural road when a young man in a van stopped to ask if we needed a lift... he was 'rather insistent' but I obviously firmly said no and crossed over to a group of houses where I said we lived... he turned his van around and headed back in the opposite direction meaning he had driven past us and then doubled back to stop next to us...

No harm done, but it did make me think about what man's car/van would I get into...

Obviously I wouldn't have gotten into ANY man's car with my daughters present, and we only had a short distance to walk, but would I have been more likely to have accepted a lift from someone if it was someone I 'vaguely' knew? Someone in a music group I used to play in? Perhaps a friendly bus driver ? Someone that works in the coffee shop that we always go to on Tuesdays? My dentist? What if I had a lot longer to walk? What if the weather was terrible?

It was all rather thought provoking but I was really curious to know what other Spinster's stance on such things are?

It's easy to say 'oh id never get into a man's car!' but does that include your elderly neighbour who needs a stick to walk? does it include your now re-married ex? a policeman? the dad you talk to at the school gates? would you get into a woman's car no questions asked?
