WaPo graph labeled “The history of left-handedness” among Americans, by birth year. It dips from 5 to under 4 between 1890-1910, then in a straight line up and to the right until it levels out near 12% around 1960, and stays flat from there through 2000.

Fun fact: many of the arguments over the autism “epidemic” are the same leveled against lefthandedness over the years. Broadly, that something is wrong with “them” and “they” need to be socialized (i.e., stigmatized/punished) to be more like “us.”

It turns out that 12% of us are just lefties and once we stopped fucking with them everything leveled out.
