A Saw-whet Owl with golden eyes stares into the camera while encased in a tight cornflower blue towel. It is possibly one of the neatest wraps pictured to date, with the camera looking squarely "down the barrel" of the towel, so to speak. The cross section of owl is almost all forehead; coffee brown with streaks of cream. The feathers are slightly ruffled and spiral around a discernible whorl above one eye. The pupils are wide and a deep glossy black, each reflecting a pair of ceiling lights. We tend to project human emotions onto wild animals, even when they are unsuited to the situation. That said, it feels impossible to describe this owl as anything but angry. The brow seems more furrowed than your typical owl; the 30 degree rotation of the wrap (and the owl within) only adds to its look of indignity at being so unreasonably detained.
