Aarhus harbour, Denmark, this weekend. The gigantic cruise ship AIDA towers over the docks. They are almost in silhouette because this is a poor photo, snapped facing into the sun. The grey-blue harbour water is covered in vivid silver sparkles from bright sunlight. In contrast to the huge vessel, two people are rowing by carbon-neutrally, each in an orange kayak. They are dwarfed by the giant ship, but somehow seem the bigger for it, I think. If you look closely, two even more carbon-neutral seafarers can been seen – two white swans are just landing on the water between the kayakers and the cruise-ship dock, wings still flapping as they hit the surface of the sea. (I have no idea if the AIDA is actually filled with US passengers or is a US ship – the point is what people now instantly associate Americans with)
