A forest scene in early spring. A hunters perch on the left overlooks a ravine in a stand of beech trees. On the opposite hillside a trail comes up out of the valley. The trees are still completely bare and the ground is covered with old foliage from last year, creating an almost monochromatic brown scene. Through the trees a distant ridge line is visible.
