The word #knowledge originates from the Old English cnawan, meaning “to know, perceive, or recognize,” which itself derives from the Proto-Germanic root knew- and the Old High German gecnawan.
In Middle English, it evolved into forms like knowleche or cnawlece, combining the verb knowen (“to know”) with the suffix -leche.
By the late 14th century, knowledge came to signify “capacity for knowing or #understanding,” “familiarity,” and “awareness of #facts”.
