A lot of news outlets exhibit this pathology. For most of the last 9-10 years they have used trans people as culture war clickbait, constantly problematising our existence. Then, when it suits, they pivot to arguing that we are too small in number to matter policy wise. None of it is genuine. It's all exploitation of people deemed inhuman so that it doesn't matter.
