   A reminder that the US accounts for the vast majority of military spending in NATO. Europe going its own way would necessitate a Herculean effort in ramping up military production, and this can only come at the cost of social spending.

   The most likely scenario going forward is increased austerity in Europe which will inevitably lead to more political unrest and disenfranchisement.
