At first glance, the colors are pretty. It looks like a lovely bouquet of fancy tulips, white petals with pink tips. But then the brain processes and recognizes they are far past peak, petals twisted and withered, some fallen away to exposes the bloated reproductive parts in the middle of what remains of a bloom. Like an empire corrupt and rotting from within, pretending it still has beauty.
