   And I think they are useful for announcing to an instance things like maintenance or monthly funding or something like that without needing everyone to follow an admin account. Announcements just need to be more visible when there are new ones (i.e. not a small blinking dot on the edge of the screen amongst several other blinking dots that never go away)
