More than 12,000 bodies trapped under Gaza rubble: Media Office chief Salama Maarouf, the head of Gaza’s Government Media Office, has said more than 12,000 bodies are estimated to be trapped under the rubble in the enclave, amid a lack of equip- ment to retrieve them due to Israeli border restrictions. Israeli authorities have not allowed the entry of heavy machinery into the Gaza Strip, Maarouf told a news conference at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City. He also said that under the circumstances Hamas would not be able to honour its promise to give back the bodies of the Israeli captives killed during bombardments.
