20 point scale (each point being a thousand years) showing Natives arriving from Asia 20,000 years ago at 0, Europeans arriving in the "new land" 500 years ago at 19.5 and someone who just crossed the border at 20. Temporally, which group is closer to Europeans? The Natives all the way on the other side of the scale 19.5 points away or recent migrants crammed up next to European arrivals a half point away? Scales are fun! They give you perspective.
