The iconic planetary boundaries diagram of 2023 shows six of nine planetary boundaries are transgressed, some considerably. They're far beyond the safe zone of a safe operating space for humanity, as known from history. Transgressed are climate change, biosphere integrity, novel entities, biogeochemical flows, freshwater and land use change. Still just within the safe space are ozone, aerosols and ocean acidification.

Just because vigorous growth is the magic bullet of most political discussion right now:
Growth is a core element of nature, too.
But not unchecked growth.
In civilization, it's called governance.
We need to govern a selected number of key harmful material exchange processes between our societies and nature: such as of CO2, N, P, water, aerosols, poisons; and space: deforestation, habitat destruction.
