   Look, if #Bluesky plans to put ads in their search engine, we already know the end result.

   They become the #Google of social.

   And we know where that leads: surveillance capitalism – because search and ads are how Google became Google.

   The possibility of #Bluesky putting ads in search is exactly why the Fediverse has to get serious about social discovery.

   And it’s why I applaud #Mastodon’s initiative with #Fediscovery and the plan to decentralize Fediverse search as well.
