A painting by Kandinsky with many of his usual iconic elements, but this one is in more hard-edge graphics than usual, and in clearer colors. In addition there are inset cartouches on the upper left and upper right, seemingly overlaid separately on the picture, which resemble floating widgets on a modern PC screen.

   I am struck by how much this #painting resembles a computer UI with widgets and wallpaper.

   Around 2000 I was asked to design a "futuristic Blackberry-like handheld phone-pc combo" for a security presentation on what was coming down the tech pipeline. And you know what? I didn't do a bad job, 7 years before the iphone, considering I couldn't imagine a touchscreen at the time. I wonder if Kandinsky wasn't somehow channeling a future experience.
