SPT-3G 2019-2020: polarization data only! Plot of CMB EE, Y axis is 10^8 l^4 C_l^EE, and x axis is l. The l values range from 500 to 3500. A series of blue dots with error bars show the data and an orange line fits the points. The line has a series of bumps 10 bumps. Parameters Planck is given first, then SPT-3G Pol only H_0 Planck = 67.35±0.49, 66.81±0.81 Omega_matter = 0.3152±0.0067, 0.327±0.011 sigma_8 = 0.8102±0.0052, 0.8143±0.0088 The SPT-3G 2-year polarization- only data allows a determination of cosmological parameters that is highly independent of Planck results with similar precision.

    Plank covered the entire sky, but due to its smaller mirror, it has lower resolution.

    Since they get 24 hours of darkness in the winter, SPT can take very deep images, but they only have access to the circumpolar sky.

    In Chile, you can’t image as deeply, but you get access to more of the sky. So South Pole and Chilean telescopes complement each other.

    Polarization measurements from SPT-3G are an independent way to determine the Hubble constant. It agrees with Plank measurements and disagrees with the local Universe measurements. The Hubble tension remains.
