We look down at the vertical bank of a small creek. The bank is made of brown earth, and is festooned with exposed roots of a tree above, washed free of soil by some flood. Sunlight shines down on a semicircular hole in the bank, half under the water. It looks like the archetypal cave entrance. The water is murky, but if we squint and bend we can see that the hole seems to be a burrow going back into the bank. I hope the residents are safe and happy.
