Where do folks go to get DRM-free epub books when they're trying to avoid Amazon and Barnes & Noble?
I use bookshop.org and thriftbooks.com for my hard copies of things, but I LOVE my eBooks too.
Right now the only advantage to Amazon is that I can legally break the DRM, so the book is truly mine once I purchase it (I won't buy eBooks I can't unlock). But I'd really like to find alternate sources of DRM-free books. Ideas?
I have no idea how Bookshop.org is able to have a discount on John Greens new book, Everything is tuberculosis, when none of the other book stores he links to on https://everythingistb.com does.
But I love that it's now on the front page as a best seller this week – and that it's even both the nr 1 and 2 bestseller, as the signed version and the unsigned version! That's amazing!
A really important book you should check out!
If you’re cancelling your Amazon Prime membership, consider purchasing books from independent booksellers through bookshop.org
Bookshop.org is having an anti-Prime sale today and tomorrow (Oct 9) with free shipping.
You can select a local bookstore near you that benefits from your purchase.
Is it cheaper than Amazon? No. But I try to buy some of my #books in print and from non-Bezos sources. Bookshop.org, thrift books, booksamillion (plus borrowing from my library!)
Bookshop.org is offering free shipping today and tomorrow, as Anti-Prime Day! Support independent bookstores and stick it to Bezos:
@sennoma I use bookshop.org and select a local bookstore for the purchase. It is more expensive than other sources. I have limited space for books, so I do not purchase many.
