Bluesky post by Leah Stokes @leahstokes.bsky.social (timestamp January 9 2025 at 3:09 PM): Cannot stop thinking about how Octavia Butler wrote a book in 1993 about climate change. It opens with deadly fires in LA in 2025. In the story, a fascist president has just won office with the campaign slogan "make America great again". She was a modern day Noatradamus. If only we'd listened. (below the text there's the cover of a recent edition of _Parable of the Sower_, showing a Black woman dressed in a pastel dress, with a high fabric headdress. There's a cover quote by John Green, praising the book, and text indicating that there's a new foreword by N.K. Jemisin)
