Asterix punches an attacker high into the air, leaving only his shoes on the ground, while shouting angrily: "Moi aussi je suis un Charlie", meaning: "I'm a Charlie too". Asterix's opponent in the drawing is not, as usual, a Roman soldier, but "a man who has killed", as Uderzo emphasised.

   Retired since 2011, Uderzo, then 87, returned to the drawing board shortly after the Charlie Hebdo attacks in 2015 and the loss of his close friend Cabu, to draw two tributes featuring his famous characters Asterix and Obelix.

   The most powerful of these shows Asterix punching an attacker high in the air while angrily shouting: "Moi aussi je suis un Charlie", meaning: "I'm a Charlie too", after a previously published drawing showing the characters bowing in honour of the victims.
