This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Triceratops
In 1887, brow horns and a skull roof were found by George Lyman Cannon. He sent them to Othniel Charles Marsh who thought the formation was from the Pliocene, belonged to a weird bison, which he named Bison alticornis.
In 1888 OCM published on the dinosaur genus Ceratops.
In 1888 John Bell Hatcher found a more complete skull and OCM renamed Bison alticornis, Ceratops horridus. After seeing the nasal horn, he renamed it Triceratops horridus.
