   Because if we don't have more reasonable people seated on it the amount of damage it can do is both catastrophic and long-reaching. Covering decades.

   So yes, _vote blue_. It's important. Because I'd rather the kind of judge that Biden or Harris will appoint to the kind that Trump will appoint. Every. Single. Time.

   The regulations were good but they were not enough; people were shocked and dismayed, and turned that into action.

   When you think about how, in the context of the appalling footage from Haneda, no one on the Airbus died, remember that. It was not (only) a miracle. It was the result of disciplined investigation, training, engineering, information sharing, and worldwide cooperation over decades.

   So, okay, maybe it was a miracle. But of a fundamentally different kind. /fin

   You and I and everyone here are part of the first 10 million people on the fediverse.

   We are setting the cultural and technical norms for the next few decades.

   So if there's something you wish Mastodon did, or ActivityPub did, just start acting like it already exists.

   If enough people want it or need it, it will get added by the software and protocols later.
