Sveda was working in the lab on the synthesis of an antipyretic drug. He put his cigarette down on the lab bench, and when he put it back in his mouth, he discovered the sweet taste of cyclamate.

can we talk about all the lab failures here?
i mean
1. cigarette in use 2. put directly onto the lab bench 3. where he was working on a new chemical 4. which he had clearly spilt all over the place followed by 5. picking the cigarette back up and putting it into his mouth
experiment contamination issues aside there are so many ways you can die from this in a chem lab holy fuck
