Text: This is a 4000 year old technology. This method of irrigation is thought to have originated in North Africa and there is evidence of it being used in china for over 4000 years. It is still being applied today in traditional cultures and around the world in many permaculture gardens. The common name for these pots is "olla" and derives from the Spanish word for clay pot. This is the traditional style. Cover the pot opening with a rock or lid. This stops evaporation and any insects from falling in.
