SHOWER THOUGHTS:
NEW FEATURE: Hide posts by publicly traded companies.PREAMBLE: What if :butterfedyC: fediverse isnt supposed to defeat the corporates.... what if not supposed to wipe the floor with legacy media platfroms. Its just supposed to be a little petri dish of disgruntled techies screaming into fiefs, while the megacorporates keep indoctrinating the 95%
METHOD: Now imagine there were #marketplace servers on fedi for #smallBusiness to engage (eg. coloradowest.zone, or organicfarmers.ca, etc). Imagine if we Fedizens started asking local businesses to setup accounts on these servers and we could decide to see small businesses but hide big ones. What if the hosting instance tracked whether a company is a publicly traded company and the above option for individuals allowed them to hide posts by corporations that are on the #stockMarket?
That's basically what the above setting is for, and would be on by default.
Everyone knows that shareholders and publicly traded companies are terrible today, so why not have a democratic and peaceful way of having them be on fedi, and NOT be on fedi? In a fair future where fedi reigns, an option to hide publicly traded companies may incentivize such companies to be less evil, too?
It also means that small businesses, may get a comparatively better experience on fedi than on falsebook, instaspam and corposh!t media.
