with every dig of my spade a robin follows Robin on a perch is a hand-painted watercolour painting in portrait format by the artist Karen Kaspar. A small robin with bright orange breast feathers stands on a square wooden perch and looks around with interest. The bird was painted with loose brushstrokes and the background was left white. The soft watercolour style gives the overall picture a gentle and dreamy touch. This work, a combination of painting and haiku, is a joint project by Karen Kaspar (© art and artwork) and Marjolein Rotsteeg (© Haiku). A haiku is a traditional Japanese poetry form consisting of three lines.
