seraphimskater: addiction, I believe, is when a drug or something else takes over the reward pathways in our brain and there's a self- aggravating loop of exaggerated positive feedback that overrides our natural instincts to seek beneficial things in favor of seeking the drug over and over, despite worsening consequences... and it's HARD to meet this definition with something like food or sexual pleasure because ... food and sex are what the reward pathways EVOLVED to REWARD!!

So the thread starts with a bad take, which is "if you need porn/sex toys to orgasm, you've masturbated yourself into dysfunction". And of course, that's ridiculous, not least because a lot of people with vaginas can't orgasm without a vibrator like, from the get go. But then someone said this:
