seraphimskater: as a recovering drug addict, I find we are really eager to call people "addicts" as a way to stigmatize enjoying pleasurable things like food and sex on a level that does not actually hit any part of the addiction definition. like maybe someone feels ashamed that they like to eat ice cream of jack off but they aren't doing it more and more and losing the ability to feel pleasure from other things.

So the thread starts with a bad take, which is "if you need porn/sex toys to orgasm, you've masturbated yourself into dysfunction". And of course, that's ridiculous, not least because a lot of people with vaginas can't orgasm without a vibrator like, from the get go. But then someone said this:
