Trail along the ridge of mountain after reaching summit. Trail is seen here to be covered with a thin layer of snow. However, in adjacent sections (not shown), there are patches of ice, puddles of water, and dirt. This section of the ridge is an open area with no trees. The trail is marked by a line of small boulders lining each side of trail. Trail extends away from camera and winds itself along ridge. Solid blue sky overhead. Franconia Ridge Trail, next to Little Haystack Mountain toward Mt. Lincoln.

Trail conditions varied dramatically from trailhead to summit in my hike earlier this week in the White #Mountains: dirt and dry rocks (upper left); crusty #snow and patches of soft #ice (upper right); solid hard ice and need for traction (lower left); dirt, snow, ice, and some puddles of water on sun-exposed ridge trail (lower right). A fun, interesting hike! #FootpathFriday #hiking #backpacking #nature #NaturePhotography #landscape #photography #LandscapePhotography #GetOutside
