Today crews covered this cliff in brush and hay, trying to protect the seeds planted underneath. Those seeds are part of a “living shoreline” ecosystem they’re trying to foster, believing that rooted plants are the most effective way to keep topsoil from washing away.
Post-Fiona, an “exponential” number of Islanders are trying to slow erosion, some seeing it as an existential threat.
